LIVING GIFT FESTIVAL 2011
The Living Gift Sale will start November 5th in both
Ottawa stores and will be available each weekend at the Festival Sale.
Living Gifts are designed to inspire alternative gift giving
ideas that meet simple human needs for good health and a decent living.
This holiday season, you can show your loved ones how much you care by
donating to a number of different projects on their behalf.
Last year Ten Thousand Villages customers across Canada donated over
$613,000 to Living Gift projects.
Living Gifts are available at both
Ottawa stores until December 31st.
This year's Living Gift projects are:
Give Opportunity
$24 equips student with the resources needed to go
to school with supplies such as uniforms, shoes, books and/or teaching
materials.
Give Empowerment
$25 supplies literacy materials and training for a
woman beginning a new life in Bangladesh.
Give A Goat
$35 provides one female milk goat and training in
agriculture and livestock management to a family in Kenya.
Give A Sand Dam
$40 provides materials (four bags of cement) to
build a sand dam that supplies valuable water to a village in Tanzania
or Zambia
Give Education
$300 provides a one-year Global Family sponsorship for
a child or young adult in Vietnam or Honduras.
Give A Farmyard
$350 fills a farmyard with animals and helps families
change their economic status by providing a healthy diet and
income.
These projects represent the work of the organization we grew
out of, Mennonite Central
Committee in the major areas of relief, agriculture, environment
and education.
